The American University in Dubai’s Architecture Department at the School of Architecture Art & Design (SAAD) is pleased to announce that Miss Yara Salma’s entry into the Norman Foster Foundation Digital X Workshop has awarded her a grant to participate in the upcoming Digital X workshop to be held at the Norman Foster Foundation headquarters in Madrid, Spain.
Miss Salma was nominated to enter the competition by the Architecture faculty thanks to her excellence in academia. Upon submitting her application, Yara was selected from over 71 students from universities worldwide including Stanford, Harvard, and Cambridge, who answered the question “What if the natural world and the artificial world become the same?” Miss Salma responded to the question by creating a video collage of scenes from different movies drawing on a distorted concept of reality as well as the Simulation Theory. Along with ten other finalists from diverse backgrounds of the digital world, design and architecture she will participate in a week of workshops mentored by Nicholas Negroponte, co-founder and former director of MIT Media Lab.
“I would like to thank all the professors at the Department of Architecture who contributed to helping Yara becoming a remarkable student.” Professor George Kachaamy.
