Over two hundred and fifty athletes took part in football, volleyball and basketball competitions as part of the recent Beat the Heat tournament organized by Canadian University Dubai (CUD) in collaboration with Dubai Sports World.

In a packed Dubai World Trade Center, 30 five-a-side football teams took to the pitch to compete for trophies and medals, culminating in an exciting final with BVB beating Al Alhi by two goals to nil.

A total of 6 teams were involved in the volleyball tournament with All Stars emerging as two nil winners over Warriors.

In the basketball, 8 teams took part with PSSA enjoying a comfortable victory, defeating Habatein 46 points to 22 in the final.

Mr. John Sherratt, CUD Sports Manager and Tournament Organizer on behalf of the University, hailed the event as a tremendous success, welcoming the keen interest from a large number of participants and the recognition of the CUD among the wider community.

The tournament, the second to be held this year, drew interest from over 1,000 sports people and future events are planned on the back of this success.
