GUST announced that reputable academic, Professor Walid S. Bouhamra, has been named its 5th President as of July 15, 2018. Professor Bouhamra has forged his way through esteemed educational institutions demonstrating a unique fusion of knowledge and leadership. His accomplishments showcase his appreciation of scientific and academic values and aspirations aligned with those of the university.
Professor Bouhamra earned both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University, and has taken many leadership roles in his career. These being the Vice Dean for Research and Scientific Affairs at the College of Engineering & Petroleum, Assistant Vice President for Scientific Affairs, the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Kuwait University, and a Research Associate at Harvard University. Also among his achievements, are notable research publications and collaborations with renowned universities all over the globe, participation in various international conferences, and has held a consultancy position at the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences for the collaboration program with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
