Ministry representatives attended the event
QU hosted on May 3 a seminar about “The Role of Qatar University in Developing Food Security Strategies in the State of Qatar”.
The event aimed to address the issue of food safety and security at the local level. It brought together officials from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, Ministry of Public Health, Qatar Development Bank, and Hassad Food.
Attending the event were QU President Dr. Hassan Al Derham, and QU leaders and college deans.
The event’s program included four sessions about “Food security policy”, “Improving agricultural production and techniques”, “Collaboration for building human capacities”, and “Entrepreneurial food security projects”.
Dr. Hassan Al Derham said: “This is a significant event that highlights the importance of food security issue at the local level, at a time when Qatar is facing the illegal blockade imposed by the neighboring countries. This seminar also provides a platform to discuss the role of Qatar University in the development of food security strategies and also serves to assess the current reality and to establish future strategies and goals.”
