On October 30th, AUD 3rd year architecture students began an exclusive collaboration with Al Serkal Avenue, entitled “100 Ideas – Reinventing Al Serkal”. The Arch 301 students lead by Prof. Ghada Yaiche and Prof. Ignacio Nieto de la Cal, tapped into their creative sides, coming up with numerous ideas on how to reinvent and renovate Dubai’s flagship warehouse area, now a trendy art hub in the heart of Al Quoz.
After several brain storming sessions, the students presented their work at Techarc in front of a jury of potential clients, Al Serkal Board and Techarc management, who engaged with the students with several discussions and Q&A over their work.
Professor Ignacio Nieto de la Cal commented: “It is great to have student engagement in real industry projects, as this exposure to potential clients prepares students for the workplace, building on presentation skills, boardroom skills, and learning how to interact with professioanls and different clients on different projects.”
The top students projects will be selected to be included in an upcoming exhibition in some of Dubai’s top art galleries in the coming months.
