Dr. Suad Al Kindi, the Head of the Environmental Sciences Section, along with the section’s faculty members Abdallah Abdel-Hafez and Dr. Syed Samiuddin and the students visited the venue a day before the opening to oversee the ongoing preparation of the event.
Environmental Science Section students along with some of the Applied Sciences Department lecturers participated in the Oman Energy and Water Conference and Exhibition that was held recently at the Oman Exhibition and Convention Center under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Taimour bin Asa’ad bin Tariq Al Said. The three-day event, themed “Intelligent Management of Energy and Water Systems”, was organised by the Public Authority for Electricity and Water (Diam) in conjunction with Oman Expo.
The students presented three posters on the completed and existing projects carried out by section as well as a brief description of the environmental sciences program. Higher College of Technology, represented by the environmental sciences section students, was the only academic institution participating in the exhibition along with Sultan Qaboos University.
The posters presented by the students drew a lot of attention by many visitors and stakeholders who were impressed by the uniqueness of the program and its achievements in such a short period of time since its inauguration in 2013.
It is worth mentioning that Oman Energy and Water Conference and Exhibition is an international event dedicated to the water and wastewater industry along with power generation, renewable and alternative energy, transmission and distribution-related industries.
The participants expressed their gratitude to the Deanship for allowing them to be part in such an eminent event where they had a chance to meet and discuss real issues and solutions pertaining to energy and water challenges and opportunities in Sultanate of Oman.
