University of Dubai Reveals Its Yearly Strategic Plans

During the meeting, Dr. Bastaki revealed the process of developing UD’s vision and mission which are driven by three strategic pillars: Innovation, Academic & Global Perspective, and Building Character and Leadership. He discussed the necessity of delivering education through professional awards besides academic degrees, putting multi-disciplinary theory into meaningful practice through collaborative applied research as well as building character and leadership among students and graduates that make a lasting difference.

Head of Undergraduate Admissions Ms. Samar Saeed spoke about UD’s scholarships and discounts which marked this year’s success through a wide range of scholarships starting from 20%- 100%. Besides, ICT Fund has provided over a 100 full scholarships for UD’s College of Engineering and Information Technology Emirati students.

Chief Operation Officer Dr. Nasser Al-Muraqeb delivered an appreciation speech for all departments and employees that have exerted great efforts in making UD a better place and developing their fields. He also provided an overview about the operations’ progress throughout the year 2017-2018.

Provost Dr. Geoffrey Gachino, Director of Graduate Studies Dr. Mohammad Osman, Director of General Undergraduate Curriculum Requirements (GUCR) program Mr. Hatim Khalil, Chair of Electrical Engineering program Prof. Wathiq Mansoor elaborate on the three strategic pillars from an academic perspective.

Dr. Bastaki said that adapting to emerging technologies is essential when it comes to implementing disruptive education strategies. He emphasized the significance of equipping UD with advanced technologies and tools to make it a smart and sustainable international research hub. “We aim to serve the educational needs of diverse undergraduates, postgraduates and professionals, produce high caliber graduates, provide education based on international standards, provide a stimulating educational environment to prepare future leaders, as well as engage faculty in pure and applied research focused mainly on the economic development of Middle East & Africa (MEA) Region,” he added.
